Maextro V800: brake pedal bracket cracked in three cars in Dongchedi test, maker promises a fix

According to CnEVPost, the Dongchedi team carried out emergency stops from 100 km/h to standstill in three Maextro V800 vans. In the first car, the brake pedal bracket cracked on the third stop, in the second on the fourth, and in the third, a newly bought car, on the second. After the failure, the pedal could no longer brake, so the testers stopped the cars using the emergency braking function activated by the Park button. The description of the failures comes from the test team; there is no result from an official investigation. Yicai Global reports that the pedal force at the moment of failure was 1,612 N, and Dongchedi noted that the cracks occurred in the same place.
The manufacturer's position
Maextro, a brand developed by Huawei and JAC, said on October 8 that the braking system was developed and tested to requirements exceeding national and industry standards, and that no bracket cracks had been recorded in normal use since deliveries began. The company called the conditions in the video "non-standard, extreme test conditions". Even so, it announced a redesign of the bracket, a free replacement for current owners, and a review of its validation and quality control procedures. According to Yicai, Dongchedi disagreed with the word "extreme". A representative of the China Society of Automotive Engineers, quoted by Yicai, pointed out that there is no uniform standard setting a maximum pedal force.
Stock market reaction
JAC shares (SSE: 600418) fell by the daily limit on October 8, or 10.01% according to CnEVPost. Yicai writes that on October 9 the shares hit the limit again but closed 8% lower, at 22.75 yuan. Earlier, in a September filing, JAC said it was in talks with Huawei and Stellantis about possible cooperation; according to the company, the scope and form had not yet been set and no binding agreement had been signed.
The Maextro V800 went on sale in August 2026, with prices starting at 766,000 yuan. The case concerns one model and one test, so far without independent verification. It is not yet known when the parts replacement will start or whether any authority will step in.
