BYD opens orders for a larger Seagull: 4,205 mm long, five seats and a 95 kW (about 129 hp) motor
The new Seagull is 425 mm longer than the current car, has five seats and a more powerful motor. BYD has not yet announced the price or range.

BYD opened presales of the second-generation Seagull in China on October 9, 2026. According to CnEVPost, Zhang Zhuo announced the start on Weibo. These are blind orders: the price is not known, and CnEVPost does not mention the deposit amount. The market launch is due later in 2026, with no specific date.
What is known about the car
Filings with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), cited by CnEVPost, show the car is 4,205 mm long, 1,810 mm wide and 1,570 mm tall, with a 2,650 mm wheelbase. The current Seagull is 425 mm shorter, and the new car's wheelbase is 150 mm longer. Seating grows from four to five. Both filed versions have a 95 kW (about 129 hp) motor, compared with 55 kW in the current model, and LFP batteries; one version may get an optional lidar.
Neither source gives the range or battery capacity. Electrek writes that it expects Blade Battery 2.0 technology and Flash Charging on higher trims, noting that BYD has not confirmed this.
Price and Europe
The price of the new model is not known. For comparison, the current Seagull costs 69,900 to 85,900 yuan in China. These sources contain no information on European sales of the new generation. Electrek expects that after the China launch BYD will offer the larger model abroad, probably as the successor to the Dolphin Surf, the name under which the current Seagull is sold in Europe, but notes that this is not confirmed.
