According to CnEVPost, the 150,000th vehicle was a Q3 electric semi-tractor built at BYD's truck plant in Huai'an. Electrek confirms the plant and the model. Neither source defines exactly what counts as a commercial vehicle; according to CnEVPost, the segment covers buses and light and heavy trucks, and it started with city buses.

BYD says the Q3 is a key model in its entry into long-haul transport and that the company will increase investment in heavy trucks for this use. According to the manufacturer, the Q3 has a Blade battery for commercial vehicles, a peak motor output of 600 kW and dual-port charging; Electrek reports a claimed 20 to 80% charge in 30 minutes. BYD commercial vehicles have reached more than 70 countries and regions.

Sales in 2026

CnEVPost reports that BYD sold 6,848 new energy commercial vehicles in September 2026, up 113.33% year on year and down 0.88% from August. From January to September the figure was 53,032, up 28.46% year on year. According to the same source, BYD's total vehicle sales fell 3.94% over the same period, to 3,131,576 units.
