Event date: October 9, 2026 · Published: October 12, 2026

The main Geely brand, without Zeekr and Lynk & Co, announced it will start sales in Canada in 2027. According to CnEVPost, the company is building a local organization and a sales and service network with "experienced partners". Bryan Wu, managing director of Geely Auto Canada, described Canada as an important step in the brand's international growth.

Models, powertrains and prices have not been announced. Electrek writes that only the geely.ca website is live for now. CarNewsChina and Electrek expect the EX5 (Galaxy E5 in China), CarNewsChina also the EX2, and Electrek the Starray EM-i hybrid; these are their assumptions, not a Geely announcement.

Tariff quota

In January 2026, Canada agreed to admit up to 49,000 Chinese electric cars a year at a 6.1 percent tariff instead of 100 percent. Electrek reports that permits are issued in two six-month periods and the current one ends on February 28, 2027. According to the outlet, the first Geely cars are more likely to fall into the next quota year. According to CnEVPost, BYD plans 20 showrooms in Canada.

Geely Auto data cited by CnEVPost show that the company sold 2,235,481 cars in the first nine months of 2026 (up 3.01 percent), of which 797,670 were exported (up 169 percent).
