Chery Stockman: plug-in diesel pickup with 350 kW, deliveries in Australia from February 2027

Chery Australia published specifications for the Stockman pickup on October 2, 2026: a 2.5-liter diesel with electric drive delivers a combined 350 kW (about 476 PS) and 800 Nm. Deliveries start on February 1, 2027; no price was given.

Event date: October 2, 2026 · Published: October 13, 2026

The Stockman is the production version of the KP31 concept shown in Sydney on February 23, 2026. According to Chery's spec sheet, the system pairs a 2.5-liter diesel (140 kW, 450 Nm) with electric drive and a 34 kWh LFP battery, and has all-wheel drive and a 4DHT hybrid transmission. The combined 350 kW equals 469 hp in US units, or about 476 PS, with 800 Nm. Some outlets give 210 kW and 650 Nm for the diesel alone, but that contradicts the manufacturer's spec sheet.

On battery power alone the pickup is rated for up to 96 km on the WLTC cycle. Fuel consumption in the laboratory test is 1.1 l/100 km (30 g CO2/km); the manufacturer did not give consumption with a depleted battery. Braked towing capacity is 3,495 kg, and the vehicle has front, center and rear differential locks.

Reservations in Australia opened on October 1, 2026, and deliveries are scheduled for February 1, 2027 (earlier the fourth quarter of 2026 was mentioned). There is no price. Chery has not announced the Stockman for Europe, and in Poland it sells only Tiggo SUVs.

Why diesel? In Australia the pickup is the most important vehicle: in 2025 the Ford Ranger sold 53,694 units in the 4x4 segment, the Toyota HiLux 45,839 and the BYD Shark 18,073 in its first full year (VFACTS via 4x4 Australia). Plug-in rivals, including the BYD Shark 6 and the Ford Ranger PHEV, use petrol engines, and emission limits for light commercial vehicles in Australia in 2026 are 14% lower than in 2025.

Note on the video: the footage shows the KP31 concept from the Sydney show and a camouflaged test vehicle from South Africa, not the production model. Chery labels the specifications as indicative.
