Nio: 1.19 million battery swaps in the 7-day holiday, two company daily records

According to CnEVPost, during the seven-day holiday period from October 1 to 7, Nio carried out 1,192,221 battery swaps at 4,168 stations, and the daily average was 22% higher than a year earlier. Including charging, the company provided 2,071,582 services at 9,567 stations. The figures come from CnEVPost; we did not open Nio's original announcement.

The daily record was broken twice during the period. On National Day, October 1, there were 183,469 swaps, and on October 5, at the peak of return travel, 183,664. The previous record was 177,627 swaps on February 22, at the peak of the Spring Festival. According to Nio, at peak demand a car left a station after a swap every 0.47 seconds on average across the whole network. This is the service rate of the whole network, not the time of a single battery swap. The busiest station, on the G15 expressway in Shandong province (Rizhao), served 211 cars in one day.

Comparison with BYD

CarNewsChina compared these figures with BYD's Flash Charging data for the same period and calculated that on the peak day each Nio station served about 44 cars, against about 15.5 for BYD. The outlet rounds this to "three times", although its own numbers give about 2.8. In both cases this is the outlet's calculation, not data from the two companies: BYD reports 188,344 cars on the peak day and 12,165 stations. The gap at the busiest single station is smaller, 211 swaps against 160 charging sessions. CarNewsChina points out that BYD's network is open to all brands and that some older BYD models do not support fast charging, so they occupy chargers. Nio stations serve only the company's own brands, which favors higher figures.

The data cover only the Chinese market and the holiday period, so they do not show how the swap network performs outside China.
