Second-generation BYD Seagull: 425 mm longer
About this video
425 millimeters more. That is how much longer the new Seagull is set to be, according to China's vehicle catalog. On October 9, BYD opened reservations in China: no price or launch date, for a refundable deposit of 2,000 yuan. The car is set to be over 4.2 meters long and seat five instead of four. The motor is set to have 95 kilowatts instead of 55, and a heavier version may get lidar. Why? From January to September, Seagull sales fell by 33 percent, and in China, through the end of August, by over 66. The winner is the Geely Xingyuan, according to Geely the best-selling car in China. The new Seagull has the exact same wheelbase: 2,650 millimeters. The catch: in Poland today there is the Dolphin Surf, sold off on clearance this year. Whether the new one comes to Europe, BYD is not saying.
